The seasoned trainer Gavin Cromwell is gearing up for an unforgettable spectacle at Cheltenham this year, assembling his largest team yet to take on the challenging course.

David Ord was on the ground in Ireland, capturing the sights and sounds of Cromwell’s bustling yard, where preparations are in full swing for the prestigious event. Known for their impressive performance, Cromwell’s team is set to make waves with an astounding 34 entries planned over the festival’s four days.

Horses to Watch: Sixandahalf and Stumptown

The Ryanair Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle will see the talented Sixandahalf, a shining star in Cromwell’s lineup. Described by the trainer as incredibly versatile ground-wise, Sixandahalf is in prime condition and ready to give the competition a run for their money.

Another horse catching everyone’s attention is Stumptown, heading into the Glenfarclas Cross-Country as a frontrunner. Despite a 6lb increase following a win in December, this contender shows no signs of slowing down.

    Strategic Entries and Options

Vanillier, a prominent figure in Cromwell’s strategy, presents multiple thrilling options. He could venture to Aintree, jump into the cross-country event, or tackle the Bobbyjo race before aiming for the National. Seeing Vanillier’s ongoing form brings optimism for another strong performance.

Bioluminescence and Now Is The Hour

Bioluminescence, aiming for the Mrs Paddy Power Chase, remains a formidable challenger, though much depends on the weather. The chase for the National Hunt brings Now Is The Hour into the spotlight, with eyes on both the Kim Muir and the National Hunt Chase.

    Emerging Talent: Hello Neighbour

Hello Neighbour, although outpaced at Leopardstown, is on an upswing entering the JCB Triumph Hurdle. Cromwell is keenly aware of the home team’s strength but is confident in Hello Neighbour’s potential, particularly in a faster-paced race.

    A Promising Festival Ahead

With just five weeks remaining, Cromwell’s Cheltenham campaign is shaping up back at his home base. The trainer’s meticulous preparation and an impressive array of contenders signal a potentially standout festival.

The yard is buzzing with anticipation, the horses are in prime fitness, and Team Cromwell is ready to tackle what promises to be a thrilling four days at Cheltenham, a true equestrian highlight.
