After week’s of deliberation, Barry Geraghty has chosen to ride more of that in the Grand National at Aintree on Saturday.
Geraghty is the lead jockey for J.P. McManus, so faces tricky decisions on which of the green-and-gold maestro’s horses he wants to ride on a daily basis. Triple Cheltenham champion, Cause Of Causes is set to make his second appearance in the Grand National and his form in high-profile contests will have given Geraghty a few sleepless nights, but Frank Berry, McManus’ Racing Manager, confirmed to the Irish Independent that Geraghty is set to ride More Of That in the Grand National.
“Barry is set to ride More Of That, with Jamie (Codd) ready to ride Cause Of Causes, though Barry is obviously waiting until the end to see if anything should change,”
Codd has ridden Cause Of Causes during all three of his victorious outings at Cheltenham and he is sure to be delighted with the news he will be able to ride his favourite companion in the Grand National.
2015 Stayers’ Hurdle champion and this year’s Gold Cup sixth, More Of That has shown definite signs his form is starting to turn in recent months. He remains a very classy chaser and Geraghty will have an excellent chance of adding to the solitary Grand National title he already possesses, when he saddled Monty’s Pass to victory in 2003.
